I am self-taught. I did not have the traditional art education of most artists. Thanks to my eighth grade teacher, Ms
Sheriden, I developed an interest in art. I never forgot her name. Though I was always attracted to art, I didn't get into
it until later in life. It helped me to express myself. The Arts High School in Newark offered many courses at night
school, which were a great help to me.
Because of my interest in art, I took advantage of demonstrations, art shows and visited many museums. During
vacations in New England I took part in workshops. I also went to Summit Art Guild in N.J. for several courses. I
worked in an office all my life and my spare time was spent getting into art.
I have tried different mediums such as, oil, watercolor, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, collage, pottery and sculpture. I also
release some creative energy in the home with upholstery, rewiring lamps, refinishing furniture, refinishing frames, etc,
etc, etc. Speaking of frames, I think the right frame is very important in finishing each picture. That is an art in itself.
I should know, selecting the right frame always drives me crazy.
