(click on thumbnails for larger view)
Gian's birth name is Gianbattisto Armando
Polizzi.  He is a native New Yorker, having
been born in Manhattan.  However, he has
lived in four of New York's boroughs, as well
as Long Island.

Gian is a proud Air Force Veteran.  In fact,
the Air Force is where he first developed his
life-long interest in the field of electronics.
(He actually used an analog computer.)

His first job as a civilian was also in the
electronics industry.  He ultimately became a
project engineer in the same field.  His
career involved working with everything
from "Hi-Fi sets" to digital computers, to his
first home computer, which he bought in
1977.  The companies he worked for
included: Radio Receptor, part of General
Instrument Corp, and
Telephonics Corp.

Gian's first   IBM computer contained the
program "Basic."  In "Basic" there was a
demo called "Mandel."  Mandel displayed the
basic
"Mandelbrot" set which continuously
changed colors.

Gian was "hooked" on the Mandelbrot set!
He subsequently researched the creator,
Benoit Mandelbrot and discovered some
essays and a book he had written.  Gian
became a "changed" man!  He has been
creating
fractals ever since!  Fractals are a
form of computer graphics that can appear
like abstract art.  There are very colorful and
can be created by manipulating formulas
within the program.
